The Cuesta College baseball team defeated Oxnard 8-1 on Wednesday behind a complete-game, one-run performance from starting pitcher Carson Aprato.
Aprato went nine innings striking out two and giving up just two hits as Cuesta won its 12th straight game.
Four different Cuesta (12-3, 2-0 Western State Conference) players had two hits, including LaBronze Sanderson, Alex Detz, Spencer Ruggles and Michael Nieporte. Ruggles and Nieporte led Cuesta with two RBI each.
After trailing 1-0 after the first inning, the Cougars took the lead with two runs in the second.
Leading 4-1 after five innings, Cuesta spread its lead to seven after scoring four runs in the sixth inning.
The Cougars outhit the Condors 12-4.
Cal Poly?s Chris Hoo on Johnny Bench Award list
Mustangs catcher Chris Hoo was placed on the Johnny Bench Award Watch List by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. The award, presented by BaseballSavings.com, is given annually to the top NCAA Division I catcher in the country and the watch list currently has 43 candidates.
Hoo is hitting .216 this season with eight hits, four of which are doubles, and has driven in seven runs.
Hoo has also thrown out five of eight base stealers and has yet to commit an error in 77 chances behind the place.

Moorpark 8, Cuesta 0
The Raiders scored a combined six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take an eight-run lead and defeat the Cougars.
Mandi Miller pitched all six innings for the Cougars and recorded two strikeouts.
Karlie Barbato struck out five for the Raiders in her complete-game shutout.
Cuesta had four hits and four errors.
