Dayton Affirms Plans For Health Insurance Exchange ? CBS ...

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ? Gov. Mark Dayton has reiterated his intention to continue developing a health insurance exchange for Minnesota.

The Democratic governor wrote Tuesday to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius confirming his plans in the wake of last month?s U.S. Supreme Court decision that largely upheld the federal health care overhaul.

In a separate letter, Dayton also urged GOP legislative leaders to join with him. He says they all share the responsibility to prepare to implement the law now that it?s been upheld.

Republican lawmakers have resisted getting involved with an overhaul they oppose.

Dayton aims to win federal approval of the health insurance marketplace by Jan. 1 to avoid getting a one-size-fits-all federal model. The exchange would give employers and consumers a place to shop for and compare policies.
